The Lady Bucks hosted the Millsap Lady Bulldogs for their latest match and were able to get the better of them in three straight sets. They won all three sets 25-18.
The match took place Friday, Sept. 26, at the Athletic and Fine Arts Center, as the Lady Bucks improved their overall record to 3-18 and 2-4 in district play for the season.
The Lady Bucks were able to snag an early lead in the first set, taking a 4-2 advantage and ultimately extending it to 13-5 after a five-point run, during which Lane Bartoskewitz recorded a couple of kills.
That lead was extended further to 18-11 after another point-run. The Lady Bucks would close out the match 25-18 when freshman LaKyla Bartley recorded a kill at the net.
The second set went back and forth early on, with Millsap coming back to take a 5-4 lead after the Lady Bucks got off to a 4-1 start.
Later in the set, the Lady Bucks went on a long streak of holding serve, scoring 10 points in a row, led by four kills from Bartoskewitz and an ace by Analia Palacios.
At that point, the lead was 19-10 and the Lady Bucks would win 25-18, as they were one set from taking the match.
The third set was similar to both of the first two, and wound up tied at 10 points apiece. The teams went back and forth with scoring, with the score tied again at 14-all. It was a six-point streak that got the Lady Bucks' lead up to 20-14, relying on a couple of blocks and a kill by Preslie Malcuit.
Just like the first set, Bartley closed it out with a kill as the Lady Bucks again won 25-18 and swept the match. Bartoskewitz remained consistent with kills throughout this set and the match overall as well.
The Lady Bucks will host Peaster for their next match Tuesday, Sept. 30 before traveling to Comanche Friday, Oct. 3.
