The Breckenridge Lady Bucks traveled to Mineral Wells to take on the Lady Rams, falling 53-33 as they dropped to 1-5 on the season.
In the game that took place on Friday, Nov. 21, there was not much going on offensively early on for the Lady Bucks, as they trailed 17-5 after the first quarter and 21-7 at halftime.
Scoring for the visiting team in the first half was LaKyla Bartley on a reverse layup, Analia Palacios with a three-pointer at the top of the key and a midrange score from Paisley Thibodeaux.
The Lady Bucks were able to turn the scoring on a bit more in the second half, starting with another layup from Bartley early on and a shot from Victoria Martinez assisted by Bartley.
But two three-pointers and an easy layup off a steal got the Mineral Wells lead back out to 29-11. The Lady Bucks’ deficit was then 41-20 by the end of the quarter, seeing scoring from Kyra Canada on a basket off a steal and a bank three-pointer and a putback shot from Palacios
The Lady Bucks allowed four three-pointers to fall for the Lady Rams in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Bartley made her mark with a three-pointer of her own, as well as a layup, a midrange jumper and two assists. Overall, the freshman put up nine points in the game and has been a focal point of the offense early on this season.
With Thanksgiving week ahead for the Lady Bucks, they will come back and play the Stamford Lady Bulldogs for their next game Tuesday, Dec. 2.
