Lady Bucks fall to Sweetwater
The Lady Bucks started the basketball season with two back-to-back wins, but then hit a rut with three losses in a row to Ponder, Gorman and Sweetwater.
Nora Ramirez #24 started the game off with a quick basket followed by one from Zaea Ragle #23 and one from Kylee Willis #22. Ragle managed to drop in another two points and at 4:10 minutes left in the first quarter. The Lady Bucks led 8-7 with a momentary lead. By the end of the first quarter, Ragle had made a foul shot and the score was tied up 9-9.
The Lady Bucks got stuck at 9 points, while the Lady Mustangs increased their lead by eight points ending the first half 9-17.
Returning from the break Ramirez #24 made a quick bucket followed by one from Willis #22. Ragle #23 was fouled and made both of her shots from the charity stripe and Willis #22 was able to get loose to drop in another fast bucket. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 17-24. The Lady Bucks had managed to keep the Lady Mustangs partially away from any fast breaks to score and had nearly matched them point for point. The Lady Bucks scored 8-points to the Lady Mustangs’ 7-points during the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, both #15 Camila Palacios and #24 Nora Ramirez each scored a three-pointer with a two point contribution by #25 Elizabeth Palacios. The Lady Mustangs had a late change up by containing #22 Willis preventing her to score.
The game ended with the Lady Mustangs ahead, 25-35.
The Lady Bucks have a 2-3 overall record in District 7-3A.
