Lady Bucks Freshmen take hard-fought wins

The Lady Bucks Freshman team were the only ones to come home with a win Friday, Sept. 4, from Iowa Park against the Lady Hawks Freshman. Both sets were hardfought contests, but the Lady Bucks prevailed with straight-set wins, 25-23 and 25-20.

Jenna Stewart - 1 A and 5 D

Cora Gonzales - 6 D

Emma Beauchamp - 1 K, 5 D and 2 A

Chloe Whitmire - 1 B

The coaches had high praise for the designated Player of the Match, Monique Fuller.

Coach Hudson said, “ She’s made significant improvements every game and she’s working incredibly hard in practice. I think against the Lady Hawks, she was finally starting to connect with her setters and swing hard. She isn’t playing as softly, learning to play more aggressively! She had three Kills in the game that were untouched, straight down kills and you could tell she wanted to do it again.”

Additionally, the Lady Bucks Freshman team pulled off their first District 7-3A win for 2020. This time it was against the Lady Bearcats of Henrietta, played Tuesday, Sept. 8. The Lady Bucks’ Freshman prevailed in a hardfought first set, 25-23. The second set was not met with the same intensity from the Lady Bearcats and the Lady Bucks breezed to a 25-15 win to conclude the match with a resounding win.
