Lady Bucks get first win of the season in Clyde

Wed, 11/13/2019 - 9:00 am

The Breckenridge Lady Buckaroos tipped off their 2019-2020 basketball season with a great performance against the Clyde Lady Bulldogs. Breckenridge won their opener 48-39.

The Lady Bucks scored off the opening tip-off with a pass from Nayeli Hernandez to Madison Stanley. Breckenridge was able to control the game defensively early, but a 3-pointer by Clyde gave them a 4-3 lead.

For the Lady Bucks, Stanley seemed to have the hot hand as she hit a 3-pointer to give the Bucks a lead. Mariah Baladez showed off her defense as she stole the ball away and drive towards the Lady Bucks basket. She was fouled and made both free throws to extend the lead.

The Clyde Lady Bulldogs would not go down without a fight, as they soon re-took the lead. Lexi Shield was able to get the game tied back up with a basket to end the first quarter. At the end of the quarter, it was 13-13.
