The Lady Bucks teams traveled to Hawley for another brush-up of skills before moving forward to their doubleheader on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Lady Bucks home court.

The Lady Bucks Varsity lost to Hawley (3-1) in four sets, 25-20, 15-25, 19-25 and 13-25. The Player of the match was Kylee Willis with nine kills and eight digs.

The Lady Bucks JV won their match in 3 sets, 20-25, 25-12, 25- 16. The Player of the match was Sydney Garland with 2 Aces, 3 Kills and 2 Digs.

The Freshmen won their match in straight sets, 25-16 and 25-12. The Player of that match was designated as Zaea Ragle with 5 Kills, 2 Blocks, 5 Digs and 3 Aces.

The Lady Bucks played all levels against Clyde and Paradise, in a doubleheader. The Lady Bucks Freshman played at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. and the JV team played at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Then, the Lady Bucks squared-off against Paradise at 6:30 p.m. followed by a match against Clyde at 7:30 p.m. The home crowd had plenty of volleyball to cheer the teams on at home prior to starting District 7-3A against Henrietta on Tuesday, Sept. 8 away, followed with another away match at Jacksboro before the Lady Bucks play back home again against Holliday in a District 7-3A match-up.

The Lady Bucks freshman team tackled the freshman from Clyde and won in four sets, 25-9, 25-16, 21-25, 25-15. It was a fun match to watch since both teams were equally competitive, very agile and well-matched. Both teams fought on every point and dug out some points that were thought dead in the water only to have someone peg the ball for a save.

Some of the standout players included: Zaea Ragle with 5 Kills, 11 Aces, 8 Digs and 2 Blocks.

Carlee Stewart with 1 K, 11 D, 4 A and 10 Assists; Mia Castillo had 2 K, 6 A, 15 D and 10 assists.

Monique Fuller had 5 K, 1 B and 2 D; Violeta Gallegos had 2 K, 1 B and 2 D; Reagan Jenson had 7K and 3 D; Cora Gonzales had 1 A and 8 D; Emma Beauchamp had 13 D in the back row.

I do not have and JV scores but do have the results from the Lady Bucks varsity against the Paradise Lady Panthers coached by former Buckaroo, John Hogan, who was a standout basketball player for the Buckaroos and now coaches the Lady Panthers in Volleyball. The Lady Bucks lost the first set 18- 25 and then really fell off the grid in the second set, losing it 11-25, however, the Lady Bucks fought back hard in the third set and only lost it in the last few points, 23-25. The fourth set had the teams tied at 16-16 and again at 18-18 then went up one point 20-19 and then tied again at 20-20. However, the Lady Bucks lost that set closely 23- 25 and lost the match, 4-0.

The Lady Bucks JV lost in four sets to the JV Clyde Lady Bulldogs, 14-25, 16-25, 20-25 and a tough last set 26-28 and lose the match 4-0.

The Lady Bucks played the Clyde Lady Bulldogs and lost in three straight sets, 10-25, 13-25 and 15-25. Stats from that game follows:

Jesi Warren - 4 Kills, 1 Solo Block (SB)

Lilly Woodward - 2 Aces, 5 K, 3

Block Assists (BA) and 3 SB

Kylee Willis - 4 A and 2 K

Haylie Mendoza - 1 K and 1 SB

Kerstyn Kelly - 1 SB

The Lady Bucks Varsity took on the Paradise Lady Panthers as part of the doubleheader. The Lady Bucks fought in the first set, but lost 18-25 and 11-25. However, the Lady Bucks closed out the long day in a fiesta battle in the third set, but just couldn’t pull it off losing 23-25 and the match, 0-3.

Stats from that matchup follows: J. Warren - 10 Kills, 1 Solo Block (SB), 6 Digs, 2 Block Assists (BA) and 8 Receptions (REC)

L. Woodward - 1 A, 4 K, 1 BA, 2 SB and 2 REC

K. Willis 4 K, 1 BA, 12 D, 10 REC

H. Mendoza 2 A, 1 K, 3 D and 11 REC

K. Kelly - 3 K, 1 D and 1 SB

Abby Parker - 3 D

Reigen Robertson - 7 D and 7 REC

Haigen Thompson - 11 D and 9 REC

The Lady Bucks will play their final tuneup at Iowa Park against the Lady Hawks on Friday, Sept. 4. District 7-3A matches began for the Lady Bucks on Sept. 8, at Henrietta against the Lady Bearcats.
