Lady Bucks lose opening district game against Henrietta Lady Bearcats

The Lady Bucks Varsity squared-off against the Lady Hawks of Iowa Park Friday, Sept. 4 in an attempt to stop the threematch losing skid, but to no avail, as they lost in straight sets, 16-25, 17-25 and 22-25. Although the girls improved in each set, they couldn’t scramble together a win.

Lady Bucks Varsity Stats:

Jesi Warren - 1 Ace, 3 Receptions, 5 Kills, 9 Assists, 2 Solo Blocks (SB), 2 Block Assists (BA) and 6 Digs

Lilly Woodward - 5 Rec., 6 K, 7 SB, 3 BA and 2 D

Kylee Willis - 1A, 9 Rec., 7 K, 1SB, 2 BA, 2 D and 2 Assists

Haylie Mendoza - 1A, 15 Rec. 2 K, 2 D, 1 SB,1 BA and 2 Assists

Kerstyn Kelly - 1 A, 2 K, 1 SB, 3 BA and 1 D

Haigen Thompson - 6 Rec. and 2 D

Jimena Palacios - 6 Assists and 3 D

Player of the Match was designated as Haylie Mendoza, the lone freshman on the Lady Bucks Varsity. Coach Hudson said, “Haylie Mendoza had 15 Receptions against the Iowa Park Lady Hawks and is one of the strongest passers on the team. Even as a freshman on the varsity team, she is a huge asset to our team. She makes improvements each time she steps on the court.”

The Lady Bucks varsity had no answer for the three giant Henrietta Lady Bearcats at the net, losing all three sets, 11-25, 10-25 and 11-25.

Player of the Match was designated as Kylee Willis. Coach Hudson said, “In her senior year, she is stepping out of her comfort zone into the spotlight. She is gaining confidence and becoming a leader.”
