The Breckenridge Lady Bucks are headed to Lipan High School this week to take part in the 2025 HD Howard Classic, a competitive girls basketball tournament featuring 12 teams split across four pools.

The Lady Bucks will compete in Pool A alongside Lipan and Chapin, opening up pool play Thursday, Dec. 4 with a matchup against Lipan in the New Gym. They will return Friday, Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. to face off against Chapin on Jimmy Tate Court.

The top team from each pool advances to the championship bracket, while second- and third-place finishers move into the silver and bronze brackets respectively.

Pool B: Chireno, Comanche, Paradise
Pool C: Godley, Gunter, Slidell
Pool D: Idalou, Muenster, Tolar

If the Lady Bucks win Pool A, they would advance to face the Pool B winner Friday at 2:20 p.m. in the semifinal. The winner of that contest would advance to the championship Saturday, Dec. 6 at 4:10 p.m. The loser of that game would face off against the loser of the Pool C and Pool D semi-final matchup.

A second-place finish in pool play would place them in the silver bracket, with games leading to a fifth-place matchup Saturday at 9:30 a.m. A third-place finish would put them in the bronze bracket.

The Howard Classic offers the Lady Bucks a chance to test themselves against a strong field while also building momentum before district play starts next week. With only two pool games, every possession will matter as the Lady Bucks aim to secure a spot in the championship bracket.
