Lady Bucks swept by Graham in home opener
The Breckenridge Lady Buckaroo volleyball team held its home opener against the Graham Lady Blues Tuesday evening at the BISD Athletic and Fine Arts Facility.
The Lady Bucks fell to Graham in straight sets, 25-11, 25-11, 25-22.
It took the Lady Bucks a little while to get settled in set one and two, but once they did, it was too late as Graham was able to build a 10-point cushion in both sets.
Lady Buckaroo head coach said despite the loss, the team is improving each day and each game.
“I thought we did a lot better passing the ball against Graham,” Yarbrough said. “That has kind of been our Achilles heel is passing. We took some good swings and have some people doing some good things. I thought our setters did better tonight. We are just having a hard time putting it all together.
“We are still trying to find that group that can go,” Yarbrough said. “We have so many good players on our team that we have to figure out what the team is going to put it together the most. I am proud of the girls and we are gaining momentum and doing better.”
A slow start played a deciding factor in the game, but Yarbrough said she is confident that will be corrected as the season goes on.
“That is something that we are going to have to figure how to not do is not allow someone to jump out on us 10 points,” Yabrough said. “Some of us are new to the varsity level and we get our heads down pretty quick. I think we started to get our confidence in game three and that helped us stay in it better.”
Kaitlyn Ellis had five digs, five kills and three blocks in the game to help lead the Lady Bucks, while Madison Stanley had three kills, three digs, one block and one set assist.
Lauren Satterwhite had one kill, one block, one set assist and two digs. Caylie Mayo tallied three blocks and two set assist. Makenna Moser had one ace, two kills, one set assist and one dig, while McKenly Roberts tallied four digs and one set assist.
Kelli Wilcox had two set assists and one dig. Brooklyn Hill and Mayli Arreola had two digs each and Alexus Roberson had one kill.
