The Breckenridge Lady Bucks opened their game against Peaster with confidence and early shot-making, but the Lady Hounds’ pressure and transition game gradually took control as they handed the Lady Bucks a 49-21 loss.

Breckenridge struck first when LaKyla Bartley buried a three-pointer at 5:52, and Analia Palacios added a free throw moments later. Paisley Thibodeaux banked in a three at 4:22, and the Lady Bucks kept attacking. A Nevaeh Johnson putback at 3:25 and another Thibodeaux layup at 2:54 kept them within reach.

Bartley found Thibodeaux for a tying layup with 1:38 left, but Peaster closed the quarter with a pair of transition buckets and free throws to take a 14-8 lead after one.

The second quarter swung heavily toward Peaster. The Lady Hounds hit threes at 7:12 and 5:52, then turned a string of Breckenridge turnovers into fast-break points. Thibodeaux steadied the Lady Bucks with two free throws at 4:39, and Palacios added another at 1:08, but Peaster continued to push the pace and extended the margin to 29-12 at halftime.

Peaster opened the third with back-to-back threes at 6:54 and 6:06, continuing to capitalize on steals and long rebounds. Palacios added a free throw and Kyra Canada scored on a baseline drive at 1:01, but the Lady Hounds’ transition game widened the gap at 41-15 entering the fourth.

Breckenridge continued to compete through the final quarter. Preslie Malcuit scored on a putback at 7:48 and added another layup a few minutes later, while Victoria Martinez knocked down two free throws at 2:12. But Peaster kept hitting from deep and converting in transition to close out the 49-21 final.

The Lady Bucks return to district play Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Comanche, then are back home Friday, Jan. 23.
