Wed, 03/03/2021 - 5:00 am

Softball season has gotten underway with the Lady Bucks taking on Comanche with an (8-0) win, on Feb. 9. Senior, Caroline Turner, only pitched one inning for the Lady Bucks in that game, but struck out all three batters. She gave up no hits, no runs and no walks.

Then on Feb. 25, the Lady Bucks played a double-header and first lost to Decatur (1-7), but then redeemed themselves later in the day with a game against the Lady Yellowjackets at Stephenville in a (7-1) reversal to take the win.

The next day, the Lady Bucks played Midway, but lost that one (3-9). The Lady Bucks have a (2-2) record for the non-conference games.

Senior, Caroline Turner, was the losing pitcher against Decatur, even though she struck out five batters, but gave up five runs. The Comanche gals collected five runs in the second inning against Turner and then collected two more in the fourth inning to win (1-7).

In the game against Midway on Friday, Feb. 26, Turner only pitched one and one-third innings but gave up three hits, two walks and hit one batter, for a total of seven runs scored. Chloe Whitmire pitched the remaining two and two-thirds innings and gave up four hits, three walks and struck out two batters. However, the Lady Bucks committed two costly errors that allowed two runs to score. The Midway gals collected seven runs in that second inning that ended Turner’s time on the mound.

Whitmire gave up four hits and three walks and struck out two batters to escape that second inning Midway surge. Midway went on to collect two more runs in the fourth inning to take the win (3-9).

Whitmire collected the win for the game against Stephenville. She allowed one run off one hit and struck out eight batters, but hit two batters that allowed the lone run to score.
