The UIL Track and Field State Meet was held May 14-16 at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin, with field events for 1A teams held Saturday, May 16.

Tidwell finished third in the Girls Pole Vault 3A event with a final jump of 11-09.00 and came home with hardware for her efforts.

A regional champion pole vault performance during the Region 1-3A track meet May 1-2 at Abilene Christian University punched Tidwell’s ticket to the state competition.

Lady Bucks coach Valeria Willaims said following the regional competition that she was proud of the way her team carried themselves and competed with grit and heart. On Tidwell’s advancement, Williams said she was proud of her commitment to be a fierce competitor.

“She puts in many hours that not everyone sees over the weekend, summer and fall. She works hard towards her goals year-round and because of that, her ticket to state is undoubtedly well earned,” Williams said.
