The Breckenridge Buckaroos were sitting at 4-0 in District 7-3A, and went up against the undefeated Brock Eagles Friday evening on the home court. Unfortunately, the Bucks came out on the low end of a 47-65 score.
Then there was the Eagle player who let loose on a rampage of scoring from anywhere on the floor in the last half of the fourth quarter. The Bucks definitely missed one of their players who is a prolific shooter, Gerardo Palacios, who was getting a broken nose adjusted.

The Bucks struggled to get rebounds away from the pair of 6’6” Eagles but Owen Woodward kept pounding away throughout the game to get the jump on the giants to out-rebound them. Finally, Aaron Medina stole the ball and made the first bucket for the Bucks with 3:52 left in the first quarter but the Eagles had already collected eight points and then added another basket to make it 2-10. Jonas Arellano followed up with a hard-fought rebound and a quick bucket.

Unfortunately, the Eagles added three quick buckets and it was 4-16 with 1:25 left in the first quarter.

Medina was fouled and made both his shots and then came back up the floor to scramble under the basket to get another hard-fought bucket and was fouled again in the process. He added both his shots from the charity stripe and the score was 10-16. Right after that, the Eagles collected their first three-pointer and it was 10-19 as the first quarter ended.

At the very beginning of the second quarter, Woodward snagged an Eagle pass but lost the ball as he raced down the court. However, Woodward quickly redeemed himself by stealing another ball and this time scored a bucket for his efforts. Jonas Arellano followed that with his own steal and quickly fed the ball down to Medina who popped it in for two more points.

Levi Lechner followed that with a bucket of his own and got fouled in the process and made his free throws and the bucket with 6:36 left in the second quarter.

Brock dropped in their own three-pointer and Arellano followed that by snagging a rebound away from the Eagle giants and fed the ball down court to Medina and he fired it to Jake Escalon, who lost the ball. By this time, the Eagles had made a few baskets of their own and the score was 16-22. Arellano made a quick bucket and then Lechner got fouled but he missed his shot from the line.

Woodward slipped in and snagged another ball from the Eagles and quickly fed the ball out to Medina, who was fouled in the process of making a bucket. He made one of his foul shots and Arellano grabbed the rebound and made a bucket to make it 21-24. The Bucks were closing in on the Eagles.
