The senior cross country season for Andrew White has come to an end after he competed in the State Cross Country Championships at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, finishing in the middle of the pack.

The 3A boys race took place at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 and when all was said and done, White placed 88th out of 151 runners with a time of 17:45.50 in the 5,000-meter course.

White was the lone representative for BHS at the meet after he posted a personal best time of 17:22.60 to finish 18th overall in the Region 1-3A Championship race in Lubbock.

“Andrew put together a steady, disciplined senior season and earned his spot to compete at the state meet. Finishing 88th puts him inside the top 100 in Texas 3A, and that matters; it means he belonged on the line with the very best and competed courageously,” coach Valeria Williams said. “He has led this team all season through his work ethic and leadership skills.”

The Buckaroos just missed qualifying for state as a team, placing fifth with 200 points.

“There’s truly no better way to close out a season than competing on the championship stage.
I couldn’t be prouder of these kids and the incredible season they’ve had,” Williams said. “They’ve shown what it truly means to be Built From Within through a relentless work ethic, strong character, and an unwavering resilience. As Bucks and Lady Bucks, I know that these kids will continue to carry those qualities in everything we do.”
