XC runners surprise at Burkburnett

The Breckenridge High School Cross Country Team seems to have picked up a bit of steam with a solid performance at the Perkins Scout Camp Cross Country Classic.

The boys finished in third place with a team score 96 while the girls finished fourth with a team score of 91.

Freshman Evan Moore followed up his first-place performance at the Santo Relays with a sixth-place finish, setting his season opening benchmark at 19:27. Junior Lane McNett followed close behind for 11th place (19:47), followed sophomore Zeke Hernandez (13th, 20:44), sophomore Ricardo Reyes (16th, 21:38) RJ Campbell (17th, 21:39), junior Isaac Hernandez (19th, 22:31) and Laston Roberts (20th, 23:33).

In girls action, freshman Riegan Robertson took sixth with a benchmark time of 13:09, followed by junior eighth-place finisher Mawnika Wright (13:12) to round out the top 20.

Other  runners: (girls) freshman Yatziri Trejo (21st, 14:28), freshman Kamryn Palmer (31st, 14:59), junior Yvette Galon (34th, 15:04), freshman Yareli Trejo (36th, 15:12), freshman Nayeli Hernandez (39th, 15:28), junior Madie Warren (41st, 15:29). Boys, senior Luis Medina (21st, 23:41).

The cross country team will not have long to celebrate as they will return to action Wednesday for the Glen Rose Invitational inside Dinosaur Valley State Park.
