Breckenridge High School seniors Chloe Whitmire and Christian Arellano have been selected this week’s Breckenridge American’s Athletes of the Week.

Baseball and softball throw a lot of games all at once to athletes early in the season.

Before district starts, teams often play four to seven games a week and face tough competition from school all over Texas.

This week’s athletes have shown leadership to their teams to lead them both to success last week.

Success in athletics does not always show up on the stats sheet and does not always equate to wins.

A great team player puts their teams in positions to win sometimes by skill and athleticism and other times with leadership and poise.

This week’s athletes have shown a bit of both in games that were sometimes losing efforts.

Bucks’ season ends with bi-district loss

There are many cliches in sports including “speed kills” and “basketball is a game of runs.” Both of these played heavy roles in ending the Buckaroos’ season with a 75-50 loss Tuesday, Feb. 20 in the bi-district playoff against City View.
