Bucks win big in Eastland

The Buckaroos were looking for a big win Friday, Jan. 26 when they visited the Eastland Mavericks. They found that win with a 85-33 win over the Mavericks.

Entering the game the Buckaroos and the Mavericks represented the third and fourth-place teams in District 8-3A and the win nearly guarantees the Bucks a spot in the playoffs.

Goehring resigns from Lady Bucks basketball

Breckenridge Lady Buckaroos basketball will see a new coach in charge for the rest of the season.

Coach Bryan Goehring officially stepped down from the position Monday, Jan. 22 after nearly four years at the team.
Breckenridge High School Athletic Director Casey Pearce made the announcement to parents and athletes via email.

Lady Bucks lose two straight

After three-straight wins to bounce back from a difficult start of the schedule, the Breckenridge Lady Bucks struggled returned with a pair of losses last week.

Although hope is not officially lost on a spot in the playoffs, the fifth-place Lady Bucks will need to find some difficult wins to earn a spot in the post season.

Bucks split district games

The Breckenridge Buckaroos remain in playoff contention as the team enters this week’s games against Comanche and Eastland.

Following a win Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Millsap and a home loss Friday, Jan. 19 to Brock, the Buckaroos remain fourth in the district a 4-3.

The Bucks begin the second half of their district schedule this week.

Lady Bucks continue winning ways against Early

The Lady Bucks looked to continue their winning ways last week after finding the elusive first district win.

Following their win Friday, Jan. 5 at Dublin, the Lady Bucks hosted Early on Tuesday, Jan. 9 before hitting the road Friday, Jan. 12 for Peaster.

Bucks remain in playoff hunt

The Buckaroos’ fast start to the district schedule continued last week with a home win over Early. The win, which came after a road win at Dublin places the Buckaroos in a good spot for the playoffs in a tightly contested district.

The Buckaroos strengthened their playoff chances Tuesday, Jan. 9 with a win over Early. The district schedule continued Friday, Jan. 12 on the road at Peaster.

Durham reflects on 30 years of officiating

With a shortage of high school referees affecting games in multiple UIL sports across the state, Breckenridge and Stephens County is represented by one official who has done his part for high school athletics for three decades.

Bucks lose heart-breaker at home to Eastland, defeat Dublin

The Buckaroos returned home to resume the District 8-3A schedule Tuesday, Jan. 3 with the first of two meetings against the Eastland Mavericks. Looking to open   the district schedule with two-straight wins, the Buckaroos were defeated 48-46 with a basket by Eastland’s Jay Oznick at the final buzzer.

The heart-breaking loss came after the Buckaroos led throughout the contest.

Lady Bucks split games against Eastland, Dublin

While the Lady Bucks suffered a 20-point home loss Tuesday, Jan. 2 against the Eastland Lady Mavericks, the Lady Bucks bounced back for their first district win of the season Friday, Jan. 5 on the road at Dublin.

The Lady Bucks followed their 62-42 home loss to the Lady Mavericks with a 67-33 road win over the Lady Lions.

Buckaroos compete in Eula

The Buckaroos basketball team returned from Christmas break Thursday, Dec. 28 to begin a three-day tournament at the Eula Holiday Classic.

Participating with the Buckaroos in the tournament will be Clyde, Eastland, Rocksprings, Holliday, Jim Ned, Canadian, Idalou, New Deal, Comanche, Graford, Roscoe, Whiteface, Tolar and Eula.
