Buckaroos end non-district with road win

After a slow start to the season, the Breckenridge Buckaroos are 3-2 as the team ends the non-district schedule with a 36-28 win over the Benbrook Bobcats on Friday, Sept. 22 in Fort Worth. After taking a 20-6 lead into halftime, the Buckaroos allowed the Bobcats to fight back before taking advantage of a fumble recovery in the closing minutes to hold on for the win.

Buckaroos earn homecoming win, 41-35

The Buckaroos “lit the B” on homecoming night with a 41-35 victory over the visiting Eastland Mavericks. While the offenses shined in the first half with a combined 56 points scored between the two teams, the defenses took over in the second half with a combined 20 points scored.

XC boys take second in Lipan

The Breckenridge boys varsity cross country team placed second overall last Wednesday, when competing in the Lipan Indian Invitational. Three runners representing BHS earned medals in their respective races.

Lady Bucks earn district win

Tuesday night’s victory over Early for Lady Bucks volleyball was not a “bounce-back” win, it was growth from the potential Lady Bucks volleyball coach Krista Wilcox said she saw during last week’s loss at Brock. The Lady Bucks earned their first win of the district schedule Tuesday, Sept. 12 with a 25-13, 25-21, 25-17.

BHS XC competes at Hico

The Breckenridge boys’ varsity cross country team enjoyed their best performance this season as a team Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the Hico Bluebonnet Invitational. As a team, the Buckaroos finished second overall with all but one runner earning a medal. The Lady Bucks finished seventh overall at the meet.

Lady Bucks drop season opener

The Lady Bucks dropped their district- opening match Friday night at Brock, 25-16, 25-23, 25-19. After a difficult start to the match, the Lady Bucks kept within two points in the second set before finally falling by six points in the third set.

Buckaroos claim season’s first win, 41-6

Early-season struggles disappeared for the Buckaroos last week. After taking a 14-0 lead before taking an offensive snap, the Buckaroos earned their first win of the season with the assistance of their defense and special teams to defeat Cisco 41-6.

Bucks host Childress in home opener

After overcoming a pair of early touchdowns from the visiting Childress Bobcats, it was turnovers throughout the game and late penalties that led to a 24-21 home-opening loss to drop the Buckaroos to 0-2.

XC runs in Brownwood

Breckenridge High School cross country teams competed Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Brownwood Invitational. The varsity girl’s team finished sixth overall with 199 points. The boys’ team finished third with 106 points.
