BFAC adds new Festival Dress to collection

Wed, 04/28/2021 - 5:00 am

Just in case you were not aware, the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center has added a new Festival Dress to its’ collection, which now numbers 34 magnificently and elaborately decorated Festival Dresses, courtesy of the owners.

Three of the Festival dresses were contributed by Lyn (Arnot) Clark. One of the Festival dresses is from her daughter, Courtney Carrie Clark (1994) and then two granddaughters, Mary Catherine Clark (2019) and Virginia Claire Clark (2019). Their dresses were worn in the Tyler Rose Festival, which is now known as the Texas Rose Festival.

If you have not wandered into the BFAC and seen these elaborately decorated Festival Dresses, you are in for a real treat.

The newest Festival Dress was worn in the 2015 Texas Rose Festival by Rachel Elizabeth Riestenberg, as Duchess of Highland Village in the Royalty of the Underwater Realm.

Some of the Festival dresses come from the Fiesta in San Antonio and a few have come from the Buccaneer Days in Corpus Christi, but most of them are from the Tyler/Texas Rose Festival.

Additionally, Madison Jones of Albany also contributed her dress as Duchess of Albany of the Royalty of the Underwater Realm in the Texas Rose Festival of 2015.

The BFAC is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call the Executive Director, Shalon Wilson for information at 254-559-6602.

The World War II exhibit is still on display in the East Gallery, which the fellows would love while you ladies take in the Festival Dress Collection.
