Breckenridge American gets new publisher

Timothy O’Malley comes to the area as the new publisher after a stop in Freestone County covering for The Teague Chronicle and The Fairfield-Recorder, with a background in all areas of the newspaper. He will fulfill the role of Publisher over Palo Pinto Communications, a limited partnership which manages The Graham Leader, Breckenridge American, Jacksboro Herald-Gazette and Lake Country Shopper under the principal ownership of Moser Community Media. The publisher describes himself as a community man and someone who wants to see a community succeed.

O’Malley said, “I believe in community. I believe in businesses being successful because successful businesses make a community thrive. As far as churches are concerned, they are the spiritual guide and healers of the community. They provide something typically the world cannot provide.”

O’Malley said he plans to be as transparent as possible and values respecting and loving others as he would himself. He said his biggest goal is to one day be accepted as part of the community.

“I would say the greatest goal anyone can have coming into a community is not so much about money and fame. It is when the community says ‘he’s one of us’ and when the people embrace me as part of this town For me it is always . , about people.”

O’Malley said his door is always open or he can be reached by phone. “I will be primarily based in Graham, but I will spend a set time in each of the papers every week. However, in the beginning, it may be a bit difficult to get in touch with me as I get acclimated to each of the three major publications.”
