Election status for May 1

Wed, 03/10/2021 - 5:00 am

This is to benefit those who might want to know about the current election status in Breckenridge. At their recent commissioner’s meeting, the City Commissioners took the step to Certify the election of the two incumbent City Commissioners, who are running unopposed for Place 3 - David Wimberley and Place 4 - Tom Cyprian.

The Breckenridge ISD Board election is quite different. Recently, Ardes Johnson, Place 7, resigned from the BISD Board, which called for candidates to apply by 5 p.m. March 1. Declaring their candidacy for Place 7, are Chad Townson and Tammy Wimberley-Anderson. Chad Townson’s wife, Paige Townson, was on the BISD Board previously, but she chose not to run again and rotated off the board so there is no conflict there.

The Place 1 incumbent, Graham Reaugh has no opponent in the election on May 1. However, Place 2, which is the incumbent Paul Lippe, the former principal at North Elementary, is challenged by Jimmy McKay, the former Mayor of Breckenridge. His wife teaches at South Elementary.
