Like a good neighbor

Wed, 09/30/2020 - 5:00 am

Like a good neighbor isn’t just a slogan; it is a motto for Jenny Coffee and Coffee State Farm Insurance. Walk into 1818 W Walker, and an individual is embraced with a passionate and understanding team of agents.

With the person’s best interest at heart, Coffee is in Stephens County to assist citizens who are in need and to provide women an ideal representation of prosperity.

A hundred years ago, this year, the right for citizens of the United States to vote was extended to all citizens, men, and women.

The passage of the 19th Amendment guaranteed women the right to vote and states that “citizens of the United States shall not be denied or abridged by the United States, or by any state on the account of sex.”

Upon ratification by the state of Tennessee, the amendment gave all women, the ability to cast a vote for the individual of their choosing.

Fast forward 100 years and Coffee State Farm Insurance is providing citizens the necessity of insurance.

“A hundred years ago is not that long ago, Jenny Coffee of Coffee State Farm Insurance said. “It’s hard for me to imagine not having that right to vote. The women that I know, we have our own mind, so important because it opens things up for women to do all sorts of things such as owning a business.”

Coffee graduated college from Texas A&M University in 1988, with a bachelor of science in biochemistry. She then went on to receive her Master of Science in counseling from Dallas Baptist University in 2008.

She has a license in multiple aspects of the insurance world. Theses licenses include life, health, property, casualty, mortgage, and refinancing.

“We provide business and personal insurance,” Coffee said. We also provide mortgages with a partnership with Quicken Loans and Rocket Morgage. We’ll help with flood insurance from FEMA(Federal Emergency Management Agency) and some business worker’s compensation with Texas Mutual. We target anyone who requires our service.”

It is her passion for Stephens County and residents that oozes from her pores and into her work.

“When I began, they were a lot of things I didn’t know, such as budgeting and the cost for things to be marketable,” Coffee said. “My husband went to Baylor and graduated with an insurance degree. He grew up across the street from a State Farm agent and knew that’s what he wanted to be. He liked that he could be in a small town, have a business, and still be involved in the community. The day after he graduated, he went to work for State Farm, 32 years ago, and is my inspiration.”

Together, the two have provided citizens of Eastland County and Stephens County, a meaningful experience to improve longevity and comfort of life.

“We wanted to establish a business that has a family atmosphere for our employees and serves the community,” Coffee said. “I wanted to have a business that will give back, and care for our citizens. I want them to feel that they can call and talk to us, developing relationships beyond insurance.”

With Coffee leading her team in Stephens County, she also provided younger women and the generation with advice on voting and its importance.

“I don’t think younger people see the importance due to a lack of experience, Coffee said. “They may not see the duty or they feel their vote doesn’t matter. They should look at the issues and not look at how friends, family, or community votes. I hope this generation, especially women, start making decisions for themselves and vote how they think. I would like to encourage them to take that right that was fought for 100 years ago and use it in a serious, responsible, educated manner and vote.”

Coffee and her team of agents are in Stephens County to provide longevity of service and are committed.

“When people know you as a person, they’ll look past anything else, “Coffee said. “They’ll look past the fact that you are a woman, your age, and race. Once they know you as a person, and they feel like you care about them, that’s the most important thing. We want citizens to feel that we care, and love them and to know that we will do the best for them. I want our legacy to be that we served and loved our community. We care about the people of Breckenridge and that is why we are here.”

With the leadership that is pulsing through her veins, Coffee and her team of agents will assist the citizens of Stephens County as only a good neighbor can.
