The Woodson News: Time Traveling

Wed, 03/17/2021 - 5:00 am

Time traveling. It’s possible. I sprang forward in time. I brought almost everyone I know with me, which is pretty cool.

It’s been spring break for Woodson ISD. The problem with time traveling is that everything sped up. It was March 12 and spring break was beginning and now, here we are, and it’s St. Patrick’s Day. I hardly remember sleeping.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day. Wear your green.

Happy anniversary to Burl and Frances Moses. I am sure these newlyweds will attest to the time travel theory, as it has already been 61 years since the day they married. Congratulations.

If we travel back to March 1, 2021, the blood drive had 23 viable donors. That is great. Thank you to all who were able to donate. Each of you may have saved up to three lives. If you didn’t get a chance to donate, don’t worry. There will be another drive the end of April.

Tax Day is coming…no fooling. Shenanigans.

Come and join the Woodson One Act Play cast and crew for a Dessert Theatre. Sunday, March 21. The community performance will be at 3 p.m. that afternoon. Admission is a requested $1 per person. Donations will be accepted to offset travel costs for the kids as they head to bi-district competition. Come see the changes in the play and the growth in its members. It’s a family play and charming to watch.

Perhaps it was the spin of the WISD Tracksters running circles around me that sent me time traveling. Literally. Run fast. Turn left. Jump high and far when needed. Please see FaceBook for track results.

The FFA continues to make a strong showing in spring CDEs. The Tarleton Invitational, as well as district and area competition happens the week after spring break.

4H Round Up is in April.

Continue watching for snakes. It’s warming up. I tried to leave them behind as we sprang forward in time, but I failed.

Happy March Birthdays: Add Brent Mills to the Happy list. And more wishes to Gae Lynn Brockman, Kelby Bellah, Bexley Clark, Penn W. Ellis, Chess W. Ellis, Frances Moses, David Baxley, Audrey Daniel, and MJ.

Happy March Anniversaries. Kelli and CJ Pate. Shelby and Kailey Stone. And, Marilyn Dickie, we still celebrate you and “Alec.” And Burl and Frances, congrats again.

In May, Tyler and Susan Brockman will bring a sweet baby boy into the world. Congratulations. This will make an uncle out of Tanner, and grandparents out of Greg and GaeLynn.

Please continue to pray for healing and health of Sissy Robles, Alene Forrest, Casey Adams, Milford, Aletha Creech, Danny Bellah, Burl Moses, Linda Northam, Thora and Paul Thurn, Pam Allen, Ray Lipps, Pig McWhorter, Earlene Bellah, Dale Deaton, Sr., Ada Smith, and June and Arliss, my Aunt Ruth Ann, Donice Neely, and Jay Gage.

Prayers for our military personnel.

Prayers for medical staff and caregivers.

Easter Sunrise Service, offered by Woodson FBC, will be at 7 a.m. at the Stone’s house on 209 West. Their Easter service at church will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Prom will be held April 16.

Fellowship of Christian Anybodies, @7:30 a.m., every Wednesday, in Mrs. Mills’ room.

Woodson FBC is “gearing up” to take approximately 30 youth to summer camp this June. Watch for information for a raffle and some other types of fundraisers. Tobi Nowell is taking donations for the raffle.

Again, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” and the Woodson Fourth Annual, after skipping a year, Community Wide Garage Sale will be the first Friday and Saturday in May. Noon to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. Call me at 940-345-6783 to get put on the map. Or, put your own sign up at the post office. Or, send an email to tacylte@gmail.com. It’s free to be on the map.

In the upcoming week, there will be two track meets, bi-district OAP competition, two days of UIL academic competition, and two days of FFA CDEs. Time… It’s all a blurr…
