Interim city

Interim city manager resigns

During a special meeting Monday, June 27, Breckenridge’s interim city manager, Jim Cox, of Texas First Group, verbally resigned after less than one week in the position. According to a release from the city, Cox’s first day in the position was Monday, June 20 and his last day was Friday, June 24.

Woodson hosting Independence Day event

The Woodson 4th of July Community Celebration will be held next Monday, July 4. The even will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 11 p.m. and will be held at the Woodson Community Center on FM 209 East.

Tax office to be closed next week

The Stephens County Tax Office will be closing at 11:30 a.m. next Wednesday, July 6 for training, according to Stephens County Tax Assessor-Collector, Christie Latham.

Some relief at gas pumps across Texas

Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 12.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.52/g today, according to Gas-Buddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 29.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $1.73/g higher than a year ago. The price of diesel has risen 2.6 cents nationally in the past week and stands at $5.80 per gallon.

Summer fun for students

The Stephens County Texas A&M Agrilife Extension office hosted three summer classes for students in grades third through 12th last week. A makeup class, jewelry making class, and beadwork class were the first of six classes.
