New radio station, 104.1 launches

A new radio station is opening its airwaves to the city of Breckenridge, as well as the surrounding area. KCKB-FM 104.1 launched Friday, Feb. 1 and will provide Christian, positive music, as well as sports, according to a press release.

Tim Walker, the creator of the setup, licensed the station in Moran. The station will serve Breckenridge, Cisco, Albany and Eastland, as well as other surrounding counties.

United Fund hits 86 percent

The Breckenridge United Fund continues to march towards their goal of $17,000. As of Friday, Jan. 19, the United Fund board announced they have raised $14,748, which is 86 percent of their goal.

Since the last update of the Jan. 16 edition of the Breckenridge American, the following individuals have been added to the donor list and include A.R. Jr. and Pat Knight, City employees, Stacy Harrison, Andy McQuistion and Jay Walker.

Boil water notice effective Feb. 1

A boil water notice was put in place Friday, Feb. 1 for Davis Road, Brown Road and the 800 block of Industrial Loop, according to a release from the city.

Due to a water line break from construction, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the system to notify all customers within the specified block to boil their water for at least two minutes prior to consumption, according to the release.
