Breckenridge ISD is taking strides toward placing a bond on the ballot for the November election, potentially opening the door to a broad spectrum of facility improvements that could transform the district’s infrastructure and learning environment.
In the third annual Back to School Bash put on by Stephens Memorial Hospital, incoming Buckaroos and Broncos were invited to the hospital’s cafeteria to receive a bag of important school supplies and snow cones as a refreshing treat Thursday, July 24.

The Friends of Historic Breckenridge, in conjunction with the National Theatre, has announced the lineup for the 2025-2026 performance series. The five acts were announced Friday, July 25 and all shows will be on Saturdays, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and performances beginning at 7 p.m.

As steps are taken towards improving emergency response, Stephens County will be looking into the prospect of building a larger emergency operations command center. The decision for the county to look into this was approved Monday, July 14, by the Stephens County Commissioners Court after Stephens County Emergency Management Coordinator David Leonard approached them about the topic.

Westbrook said that the man and his son were navigating across the lake after dark when they lost their bearings and struck the island’s shoreline. The impact caused severe damage to the front of the boat.
