Breckenridge now Film Friendly

Breckenridge is joining 36 other communities in the North Central Texas area which achieved a Film Friendly Texas designation through the Texas Film Commission. The city joins more than 175 Film Friendly Texas Certifi ed Communities across the state receiving training and guidance from TFC on media industry standards, best practices and how to accommodate filming activity in their communities.

Bridge maintenance ongoing

Nightly lane closures will occur over the next two weeks at the U.S. 180 bridge at Hubbard Creek Reservoir as Texas Department of Transportation crews continue work from June.

Neri’s Courtyard provided additional city support

The Neri’s Courtyard Bar & Grill project will receive an additional forgivable loan incentivizing job creation after approval last week from the Breckenridge City Commissioners. Neri Gonzalez, who operates restaurants in Graham and Jacksboro, will be opening a new location at 223 W.

City provides substandard housing update

Following the objectives of their strategic plan, the city of Breckenridge provided an update with a study of substandard housing in the area. Breckenridge City Commissioners approved the city’s strategic plan in June 2023 with one of the objectives within the plan to increase code enforcement meeting.

A look behind the scenes

Breckenridge residents will have the opportunity next year to get an exclusive look at the inner workings of the city during a ninemonth Municipal Citizens Academy. The course is to provide insight into city government operations and activities for community members.

Leonard to serve as county Emergency Management Coordinator

David Leonard will take the reins as Stephens County Emergency Management Coordinator after being appointed and given a formal introduction by the commissioners court. Leonard retired from the North Texas Municipal Water District in Wylie, where he served as Emergency Operations Coordinator.
