Trump’s intention to levy a 25% tariff on goods imported from Mexico and Canada is raising concerns, particularly along the southern border. “The biggest impacts are going to be felt by manufacturing companies, transportation companies and warehousing companies,” said Tom Fullerton, an economics professor at the University of Texas at El Paso.

The following cases were pleaded in the 90th Judicial District Court in Stephens County in October: • Dylan Mika Rosson, 23, of Breckenridge, pleaded guilty to the offense of possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver penalty group 1/1-B four grams or more but less than 200 grams – methamphetamine, and was sentenced to 20 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division (TDCJ-ID) and was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, court costs and restitution. Rosson also pleaded guilty to the offense of unlawful possession of firearm by felon, and was sentenced to five years confinement in TDCJ-ID and was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine and court costs.

Breckenridge FFA competed in the Pecan Valley District Leadership Development Events last week and had three teams advance to the area competition. The competition was held Monday, Nov.
Breckenridge Rotary Club and Carter Blood-Care will be hosting a blood drive next week. Potential donors can donate from 11 a.m.
The community came together this month to celebrate its standout members during the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony.
The ceremony was held Saturday, Nov. 9 at First Methodist Church in Breckenridge and served as a separate event from the Chamber banquet, which will be held in February.
Two special awards were presented alongside the eight awards which were chosen based upon nominations. Hometown Hero and the Community Collaborator award were the two special honors added to the ceremony.
Stephens Memorial Hospital will soon have an interim CEO, and begin searching for a permanent replacement, following the recent resignation of Brian Roland. Following a special called meeting earlier this month, the SMH board accepted Roland’s resignation.
