Local Breckenridge artist and home-schooled senior Providence Ezell won Grand Champion at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Art Contest last Saturday. She received a belt buckle and a $10,000 scholarship.
After two dogs died and six were euthanized for potential canine parvovirus at the city of Breckenridge animal shelter, the city released a statement to clarify why the measure was necessary and its steps for prevention in the future.
The eight-week walking challenge Walk Across Texas through Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is ongoing through the end of November promoting physical activity throughout the state. Since 1996, more than 650,000 state residents have participated in the program with a goal of promoting activity and establishing a habit of regular physical activity.
Cases pleaded in the 90th Judicial Court in September 2024 • Megan Tribble, 40 of Grand Saline, pleaded guilty to the offense of possession of controlled substance penalty group 1/1-B, less than one gram – methamphetamine, and was sentence to five years Community Supervision and was ordered to pay $1,500 fine, court costs and restitution.

Stephens County Commissioners recently met with members of the 4H Shooting Sports program about possibly assisting development of new facilities. The county met with archery coach Si Mitchell and shotgun coach Michael Russell regarding expansion of their facilities Monday, Oct. 14. County Judge Michael Roach said there was a possibility the county could assist.
The opportunity is closing soon to nominate those who showcase the best of Breckenridge as a part of the annual Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony. The nomination period is open until Wednesday, Oct.
