The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce spent last Thursday, July 28 filling bags for new incoming teachers at Breckenridge ISD. The bags contained items such as school supplies, cups, and coupons. The chamber sent out emails to its members over the last few weeks with an ask for contributions for the 40-50 new BISD teachers.
The Breckenridge American office is currently undergoing renovations. Historical items are currently being stored in a safe location, and will be on display inside the office once the remodel is completed. The annual state Sales Tax Holiday will be held this week to help shoppers save money on clothes and school supplies. The holiday, held since 1999, will run Friday, Aug. 5, Saturday, Aug. 6, and Sunday, Aug. 7 across the state.

Since Friday, the Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) responded to 38 new wildfires throughout the state, which burned approximately 1,458 acres.
