Power infrastructure winterization made a Legislative priority by Governor

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott gave an update last Wednesday regarding the response to the severe weather conditions two weeks ago and the power outages caused by that weather. Among other concerns, Gov. Abbott said he has made it a legislative priority to mandate and fund the winterization of the state’s power infrastructure.

ERCOT board members to resign, state working to add power, protection to energy grid

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which manages the flow of electrical power to 26 million Texans and represents about 90% of the state’s electrical load, will have seven board members resign, including the chairman and vice-chairman of the organization.

Temporarily closed

While severe winter storms brought in snow, freezing rain and bitter temperatures it brought most of Texas to a halt. According to the United States Postal Service website the Texas mail processing plants temporarily suspended mail processing operations due to power outages. TxDOT offers opportunity to comment on planned intersection realignment project FM 3099

The Texas Department of Transportation is offering an opportunity to comment on a proposed project to improve a portion of FM 3099 and its intersection with US highway 180. Project limits include a portion of FM 3099, from Northglen Road to 0.2 miles south of US 180 in Breckenridge, along with the intersection at US 180 in Stephens County, Texas. The public may provide comments to TxDOT through March 24 as part of the environmental review process for this project. The purpose of the 0.826-mile project is to improve safety at this intersection.
