Sloan Everett Memorial Bike Ride set for Saturday

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 3:43 pm

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host the Sloan Everett Memorial Bike Ride and tree dedication starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

The tree dedication will take place at Miller Park, and will be located at the Disc Golf Pavilion, behind the American Legion building.

After the tree dedication ceremony, the bike ride segment will commence with three levels of participation.

The fun ride is marked off at 5.5 miles and goes from the park to Texas Tank Trucks. The short route is to Hart Cemetery, south of town, to FM 576, which is marked off as 12 miles. The Long Route is slated to go to the Gunsight Church, also south of Breckenridge, and is set to be 22 miles.

This is a real family event that invites families to include members who can ride a bike. There are checkpoints along the routes that will provide water and snacks will be available at the park. There is no fee involved, just a great way to remember Sloan Everett and a tribute to his contributions in the Breckenridge community.

All levels of participation are encouraged to meet at the park by 9 a.m. with bike in hand.
