Homecoming week is here but before we get too busy, let’s start with a few birthdays!

First, a birthday shout-out to Mr. Kenneth Bibb! He’s turning 95 this week! Kenneth was born in Woodson in 1927! He was raised here but currently lives in Rising Star. Happy Birthday, Mr. Bibb!

Locally, Happy Birthday Milford Hoskins! There will be a 90th birthday celebration for Milford at the First Christian Church in Woodson from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16! Y’all come by and wish Milford a happy birthday!

Gayle Cooper, Lance Sullivan, Stetson Wagley, Sheila Owens, Brady Hibbitts, Cary Mathiews, Gary Mathiews, Dillion O’Dell, Allie Hibbitts, Nicole Ellis, Debby Mathiews, Danny Bellah, Kylie Deaton, Arianna Priddy, Kaedyn Nowell, and Melissa Vickers are all in line to have a wonderfully happy birthday this month!

GaeLynn and Greg Brockman have an anniversary this month! And, Happy Anniversary to Dan and Cheri Lee Barlow! Allie Hibbitts and Patrick Delaney will marry on Saturday, Oct. 29! Hope you bought your chances! They draw Friday morning and announce winners at the ball game! I’ve got south gate duty and Mrs. Mathiews is north on Friday.

Cross Country won the Midway Meet! District was this Wednesday!

JH OAP practice is every Monday at 4:30 p.m.! So proud of the hard work they are putting in! Their community performance is Sunday, Dec. 4. Their school performance is Monday, Dec. 5, and their competitive performance is Tuesday, Dec. 6 in Newcastle.

We do have school this Friday!

The Children’s Songs and Stories, by the Urban Pioneers is from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Woodson ISD Library! It’s free for all!

A few prayers are needed! Earlene Bellah, Alene Forest, Dick “Pop” Hash, JerriAnn Cornett, Danny Bellah, Jo Lester, Luis Pipkin, Larry Long, Brad Whitaker, Annette Harper, Millford Hoskins, Tammy Halliford, Doris Walters, Mitchell Harris, Joanne Self, Upton Dean, Sandra Redwine, Terry Redwine, Linda Northam, Keith and Mae Boyd, Jean and Thomas Brockman, Arliss Willingham, Carolyn Tate, Butch Hinkle, the Herrings, Janice Devenport, LB and Barbara, Pam and Paul Allen, Jeannette Herrington, Thora and Paul Thurn, Butch Timms, Stephen Miles, Sharon Gober, Nanci McKenzie, Roger Weeks, and Skip Hayworth all need our prayers.

Take your clean, paired, gently used, or new shoes to Angela Miles, Hometown Hardware, FSB in Throckmorton, or to Higginbotham’s in Breckenridge. This is our booster club fundraiser. When 2,500 pairs of shoes have amassed, Woodson will earn $1,000. We are close to 500 pairs on our “Shoe Meter.”

Old towels and bleach! Thank you Old towels and bleach! Thank you for donations! Claire Ellis will be conducting a towel drive for the animal shelters and a wildlife refuge. Homecoming activities Thursday/ Friday/ Saturday: Thursday is the bonfire and street painting (by FBC and school). Friday is junior high football at 5 p.m., pregame high school football at 7 p.m., high school football at 7:30 p.m. and the crowning of football Sweetheart and Hero and 5th Quarter at FBC.

Saturday is volleyball at 10 a.m., senior dinner at 11 a.m.–1 p.m., parade at 1 p.m., exes reception at 3 p.m., carnival and bingo at 4 p.m. and coronation crowning of royalty at 7 p.m.
