It won’t be long

This Friday is a REQUIRED FRIDAY for school. There will be a 7:45 a.m. Pep Rally and the day is a Hawaiian theme. Dress accordingly! Thank you to Josh Carruthers and to the Chris Stokers, for hosting exchange students! This year we have Betty and Max, both from Germany! Hopefully we can share our lives with these special kids. Welcome to Texas!

There will be a wedding shower for Allie Hibbitts and Patric DeLaney at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the FBC in Woodson. Everyone is welcome! Selections are at Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Target, Walmart, Amazon and if you can shop local, Kountry Korner in Throckmorton. The couple will marry in October.

On the second Thursday of each month, Sept. 8 is NEXT, there will be an opportunity for kids! CHILDREN’S SONGS & STORIES will be coming for children, ages 2-7, or for any who love to read and sing! The URBAN PIONEERS, Liz Sloan Mc-Govern and Jared Mc-Govern, invite you to attend at the Woodson Town Hall from 5 to 6 p.m. This will be a FREE monthly event. Donations for the new community center would be welcome! The next session is Sept. 8!

If you have gently used or new shoes, get them to Angela Miles! Drop them off at the hardware store in Woodson, or at the FSB in Throckmorton. This is our BOOSTER CLUB FUNDRAISER. When 2,500 pairs of shoes have amassed, Woodson will earn $1,000. Clean the closet, earn money for WISD kids, and send shoes to folks who need them! What great opportunities! We are close to 400 pairs on our “Shoe Meter.” Denny Berend, Nicole Ellis, Kristi Bellah, Lisa Jo Jones, Resa Deaton, Elaine Gober, Jenny Gilmore and Melissa Vickers were all elected to the District Improvement Team! Thanks for serving!

There was a Backpack Meeting held Monday.

The volleyball girls played at Graford on Tuesday.

The FFA STATE OFFICERS will present and assembly at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 in the New Gym. Sixth through 12th grades are the intended audiences.

Join the 4-H now, or the Junior FFA or the Woodson FFA!

The first Football game of the season is Friday, against Panther Creek at 7:30 p.m. The boys would love your support!

The varsity Cowgirls are headed to the TLCA Tournament this Friday and Saturday.

Start saving your old towels! Claire Ellis will be conducting a towel drive for the animal shelters and a wildlife refuge. More soon. Bleach for cleaning will also be needed.

Continue prayers for Brad Whitaker, and know that he did feel well enough to travel to New Mexico.
