Rain has come

Wed, 10/17/2018 - 12:00 am

Woodson News

How about that rain? Our tank is not full yet, but several folks have tanks that filled and ran around. There were even people (Jennifer Mathiews at the ranch) who spent an extra day at home, due to high water flowing across the road. Thanks for the rain.

Speaking of “filling up,” I hope we fill the mobile unit at the FFA and NHS Blood Drive on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Drop-ins are welcome. They open about 9 a.m. and shut down about 2:30 p.m., so there’s the window to save a life or three.

Congratulations to Danna Miller and Jordan Brown, Mr. and Miss WHS. To Elaina Harris and Daniel Smith, 2018 Football Sweetheart and Hero. To Reagan Cameron and Keaton Kuykendall, Elementary Coronation Royalty. To Ariana Priddy and Brody Mathiews, JH Princess and Prince. And, to Halie Pate and Will Jeeter, Coronation Queen and King. And, another shout out to Alene Forest, who was selected as this year’s “Distinguished Alumni.” I can’t think of anyone more deserving. Congratulations.

Happy Birthdays. Nicole Ellis. Last week we wished one set of twins, Cary and Gary Mathiews a Happy Birthday, and now, we wish the same to a slightly older set of twins, whom we love very much: Happy Birthday, Debby Mathiews and Danny Bellah. Happy Birthday to Carlee Latham. Happy Birthday to Kylie Deaton. And, Stetson, wherever you are, Happy Birthday.

FFA members Kacey Pate, Lizzie Lobstein and Junior FFA member, Claire Ellis, are public speaking at the state fair, today, Wednesday, Oct

17. Good Luck.

The Cowboys, both junior high and high school, played in Lingleville on Thursday of last week. The Cowboys have an open week next week on Oct. 19. They play Harrold on Oct. 26.

They’ll be back home on Nov. 2. The Fifth Quarter will be at the FCC. That’s the white church in the middle of town.

The volleyball girls played well against Strawn last Tuesday. And, played well against Newcastle on Sat.. And, against Hawley last night. They play in Albany on the 20 th at 10 AM and your last chance, before the playoffs, to see them play will be on the 23 rd at 5 PM in Moran.

It was good to see June and Arliss out to watch a little volleyball on Tuesday. June had the privilege of meeting gentleman cowboy, Augustus “Goose” Pate, at the game.

We offer comfort to Michelle Stone at the loss of her oldest brother.

Please pray for Kelcy Cruser, as he ships out again. Pray for all military and our nation. At home, please pray for our school, educators, students and community.

Good job on those prayers to drown army worms and fill tanks. Keep them up a little longer.

The Woodson Grocery will feed you supper on Wednesday. And breakfast every day.

The 4H meeting in Throckmorton went well. Nov. 8, the meeting is back in Woodson.
