Woodson News

No, I am not an idiom, but how many can you find?

It is the end of January already. I am having fun, but time seems to be flying by extra fast.

Well, we did have one night last week that only comes along once in a blue moon. Really. We did.

To make a long story short, the thieves were apprehended. Some goods were recovered. Thank you, law enforcement. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Well, best not beat around the bush anymore. Someone has let the cat out of the bag. We really do have a new “cat house” in Woodson, but it is just that, a house, for cats. It is very classy and looks very nice next to Elwana and Roy. There will be no revenue for the city.

Well, cut me some slack, I know it was a silly joke.

As far as idioms, I won’t give up my day job.

Kylie Deaton and Zoe Carruthers both earned blue ribbons at the ag mechanics show in Ft. Worth. Claire Ellis and Brody Mathiews exhibited heifers last weekend. So far, so good.

Let’s celebrate some February birthdays. Gay Hibbitts, Sarah Ellis and Paul Thurn (my dad). If that’s not icing on the cake, I don’t know what is.

The next 4H meeting is Feb. 14, at the Youth Center in Throckmorton. The kids should bring a buddy and learn to line dance. That’s two birds with one stone.

The new portables at the school are coming along and Mrs. Mills has moved her classroom. No more rolling cart. Those contractors have really hit the nail on the head.

District basketball players, the ball is in your court.

Please say a prayer for the following as they are “under the weather.”

Kay and Teddy are home. They need prayers for strength and healing.

Terry Armstrong’s chemo was delayed until this week. She may need help with transportation to and from, and in and around, Abilene.

Christy Lester is still unable to return to teaching, but she is healing and at home.

Please pray for Alene Forest, Matt Bomhoff, Ryland Roberson, Pie Brown, Frankie and Minerva Whitfield, Dale Deaton, Sr., Janice Davenport, June and Arliss Willingham, Greg Dunlap, Otis and Delora Hibbitts, Bruce and Keron Kinyon, Jeanie and Johnny Stoker, Novella Gilbreath, Lee Cannon, Vicki Sadler, Annette Harper, Dee and Carolyn Tate, Bill and Treon Thompson, Jean Brockman, Alex and Marilyn Dickie, Barbara and LB Atkinson, Linda Dean, Dr. Thora Thurn, Modelle Ellis, and Charlene and Odell Kite, Kelly Pate, Pam Allen, Earlene Bellah, and Martha Brown.

Please send prayers for safety and for thanks to Kelcey Cruser, and all of our military.

Hang in there. It’s coming. The 2nd Annual Woodson Community Cinco De Mayo Garage Sale will be held from 8 a.m. through noon, on› Saturday,› May 4, 2019. Oooooh, the goodies are already stacking up. Call early to get put on the map. April will work.

May 4, is also the day the junior class picked for prom. I suppose good things come to those who wait.

Well, looks like I’ll have to put the mayor’s comments on ice until I find him.

Well, see you next week; until then, throw caution to the wind (it’s blown everything else away, too).

I guess I’ll call it a day.
