Waiting for Christmas

The kids have been waiting and Christmas break finally begins Thursday for all Woodson ISD students! See you back Tuesday, Jan. 3! That is if you survived finals and parties and Christmas programs and awards! (Who am I kidding? The teachers were waiting, too!)

More and more Christmas lights are shining while we wait for the true Light.

The Cow Country Christmas had to be moved to the county barn, but hey – a little rain and some great indoor shopping! Merry Christmas!

The Woodson Junior High is officially the winner of the District 21 A, 2022 UIL Meet! Way to go all you seventh and eighth graders! So very proud of you! Few but mighty!

Congratulations to the JH District OAP Competitors! Woodson was second, but received the same 38 points that Perrin-Whitt received as first place team. Makenzi Nelson earned one of two Best Perfomer Awards. All Star Cast honors were awarded to Isobell Shelton, Zoee Carruthers and Madison Poston! And, Alannah Sullivan won the honors of Best Lighting Technician.

Urban Pioneers performed for the elementary students last Thursday, and a tiny “Santa” handed out gifts in the library. The next performance will be the second Thursday in January.

High school OAP practices are set for the spring! Each member of our troupe has a calendar and a script to be memorized by Monday, Jan. 9.

The FFA Christmas party was a good time Monday!

County stock show is Jan. 6 and Jan. 7. If you’d like to donate, please send your checks to TCJLS, c/o Tacy Ellis, 427 S. US Hwy 183, Woodson, TX 76491. Or, just come to the show in January. The kids work hard and so appreciate your backing them. Thank you show board and supporters!

Don’t forget that stock show set up is mandatory for all exhibitors and will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, at the county barn. Clean up is also mandatory, and will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023.

Maybe if you go through your closet and donate your old shoes, Santa will bring you some new ones! Pair up your used shoes and donate them to the Booster Club Fundraiser! Take the shoes to Hometown Hardware, FSB in Throckmorton, or to Higginbotham’s in Breckenridge. When 2,500 pairs of shoes have amassed, Woodson kids will earn $1,000. We are over 500 pairs on our “Shoe Meter.”
