Pray for rain!

Please pray for rain.

It’s time to prepare for “back to school.” I remember as a kid that meant shopping for clothes, shoes and school supplies. The first day meant school pictures at Saint John’s Elementary in Abilene. Everyone was dressed so crisply. It meant reuniting with friends from the year before and meeting new friends. Who would be our new teacher? What time was recess? Did you bring lunch or were you eating in the lunchroom? What time does the last bell ring?

Make this a great time for your school age kids! I will also plan on that!

On Aug. 4, it is MEET THE TEACHER! From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., it’s Meet the Teacher and Chromebook checkout; from 6:30 to 6:45 p.m., it’s the Hot Dog Supper (Football Field Concession Stand); and from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. it’s Meet the Cowgirls & Cowboys (Football Field).

Brad Whitaker is home from the hospital after heart surgery. Keep praying.

Please continue prayers for Annette Harper, Tammy Holliford (Eastland), Paul Johnston (FCA), Doris Walters, Mitchell Harris, Alene Forest, Danny Bellah, Debby Mathiews, Joanne Self, Upton Dean, Sandra Redwine, Terry Redwine, Earlene Bellah, Linda Northam, Keith and Mae Boyd, Ted Wright, Tom Hudson, Terry Redwine, Jean and Thomas Brockman, Arliss and June, Carolyn Tate, Meshell Bellah Brown, Butch Hinkle, Janice Devenport, LB and Barbara, Pam Allen, Jeanine Herrington, Thora and Paul Thurn, Stephen Miles, Sharon Gober, Butch Timms, Nancy McKenzie, Ressa and Ruby, Roger Weeks, and Skip Hayworth.

We lost Terry Beale. He will be missed. Terry was always available to catch a snake! He came to our two-story house once and saved Mark. Mark was under the house stretched out next to a 6-foot+ rattlesnake that was also stretched out next to him. It was February. I called Terry and he was there in minutes to get both of them out from under the house. That was a huge snake. Terry had no fear of snakes, only respect of their capabilities. As a matter of fact, he had respect for everyone he met. Terry was always kind and always helped where he could. Condolences to Terry’s family.

Please pray for the family of Dale Deaton, Sr.

The First Baptist Church had a great week of Vacation Bible School. So thankful to this church for providing this faithful education to our kids.

The Woodson FFA Officers had a day long “officer retreat” to plan the year July 21.

The FFA is on vacation this week, but Mrs. K is at the Ag Teachers’ Convention.

Birthday celebrations include: Britton Bellah, Carson Bellah and Hagen Bellah! Goose Pate! Chasin Deaton! Keaton Kuykendall!

Teachers… you are out of time. See you Monday! Students, get ready! See you Aug. 8!

Vegas Baby! Brody Mathiews has DOUBLE earned his spot and has qualified in heading AND heeling and will be roping in Vegas again!

Happy July Anniversary to Tisha and Wesley Bellah! Congratulations!

The Clearfork County Line Cookoff is coming up on the first full weekend of August! Contact JT Boland at 840-873-8117 for all cookoff questions!

Mayor Mathiews held down the fort while several, including me, were away for the weekend. Woodson was still here when I returned. I dropped my youngest with my oldest for “Sister Week.”

Still have goat milk – a gallon a day! It goes from the milking machine to the zip locks, to the freezer. I do have an outlet at the Austin Wildlife Rescue. They have over 70 orphan deer on bottles right now.

A second tiny chicken snake has been eliminated from the chick pen; it was just too greedy. It took three chicks in one visit. It was only 4-5-feet long. The big one is still at large. But the eggs and one golf ball are missing from the Peacock pen.

Seven raccoons in the horse shed! I have a photo of six together – they like oats.

Let me know how you have spent your summer!

Love every moment!
