This Thursday, Aug. 11, there will be an opportunity for kids! CHILDREN’S SONGS & STORIES will be coming for children, ages 2-7, or for those who love to read and sing! The URBAN PIONEERS, Liz Sloan McGovern and Jared Mc-Govern, invite you to attend at Town Hall from 5-6 p.m. This will be a FREE monthly event. Donations for the new community center would be welcome!

If you have gently used or new shoes, get them to Angela Miles! Drop them off at the hardware store in Woodson, or at the First State Bank in Throckmorton. This is our BOOSTER CLUB FUNDRAISER. When 2,500 pairs of shoes have amassed, Woodson will earn $1,000. Clean the closet, earn money for WISD kids, and send shoes to folks who need them! What great opportunities!

Start saving your old towels! Claire Ellis will be conducting a towel drive for the animal shelters and a wildlife refuge. More next week! Bleach for cleaning will also be needed.

There will be a wedding shower for Allie Hibbitts and Patric DeLaney at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at the FBC in Woodson. Everyone is welcome! Selections are at Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Target, Walmart, Amazon and if you can shop local, Kountry Korner in Throckmorton.

There will be a memorial service for Terry Beale at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2022, at the FBC of Woodson.

Luis Pipkin was care flighted out last week but he is doing a little better.

Burl Moses passed from this world into the next last week. He will be sorely missed here in Woodson and in Throckmorton County. His services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, graveside in Throckmorton. What an honest, kind, caring gentleman. He lived his life in service to others. Please pray for Frances and his family.

The Meet the Teacher evening went well! The teachers met everyone, food was served, Cowboys and Cowgirls were met!

BACK TO SCHOOL! Teachers have been at inservice. Summer is over and students were back in school Monday. There are approximately 162 students this year. Folks met and prayed over the school Sunday evening. It’s gonna be a great year!

After an all school assembly Monday morning, Tuesday was HS volleyball at Crowell. Thursday begins HS volleyball at the Bryson Tournament. No school this Friday, but there is a football scrimmage against Aspermont at 10 a.m. Friday morning in Cowboy Stadium. The volleyball girls are playing Friday at the Bryson Tournament, finishing up on Saturday.

We are headed to Schlitterbahn soon for a final summer hoorah!

Margaret, Maxie, Robert, and the rest of the Gobers headed to Red River last week for the last get-away of summer.

Brad, Corey, Greer and Ford headed out to Ruisdoso and are home safely!

The Millers made the lake a lot!
