It’s Thanksgiving break for most of the kids in the area! I know they are thankful!

As you travel or stay home, be safe, be happy, be thankful.

A big welcome to the world to Travis Wayne McMorries! Travis arrived Sunday, Nov. 6, weighing in at 7 pounds and he is already 20 inches tall! Thankful for new babies to love.

Basketball is really cranking up – games on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are coming up – maybe you can get your fill! If the kids enjoy, learn, improve and learn to put forth their best: success! Thankful for opportunities!

The FFA teams competed Monday, Nov. 21. Results on FB and in the paper soon! Thankful for dedication and hard work!

Swine validation is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27. Thankful for Roy the Pig.

Junior high and elementary UIL competition will begin Monday, Nov. 28, when we return from Thanksgiving Break! Writing at Woodson on Monday, Spelling at Woodson on Tuesday and then we all head to Newcastle on Wednesday, Nov. 30! Thankful for bright minds and effort!

Brody Mathiews is headed to Nationals in Las Vegas! We hope he makes every catch when he throws that loop! Thankful for good horses and talented athletes.

Then, the junior high one-actplay performs for the community at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4; for the school, at 2:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5; and at competition Tuesday, Dec. 6 in Newcastle. Come one! Come all! Thankful for talents of all kinds and dedication of all kids!

There are dance recitals Sunday, Dec. 4 in Graham, as well, that involve several Woodson students. Thankful for passions of all kinds.

Urban Pioneers next appearing Thursday, Dec. 8 in the WISD Library. Songs and Stories will be Christmas themed, so bring your toddlers! Wear red and green! Visitors sign in through the office! Thank you, Urban Pioneers, for volunteering to encourage the arts! Thankful for Christmas and all that it brings.

The last required day of school before Christmas break is Wednesday, Dec. 14! Required final exams are Dec. 12-14. Teachers must be there Dec. 15! There is a school board meeting Dec. 15. Thankful for work and for rest.

County stock show is in January. If you’d like to donate, please send your checks to TCJLS, c/o Tacy Ellis, 427 S. US Hwy 183, Woodson, TX 76491. Or, just come to the show in January. The kids work hard and so appreciate your backing them. Thank you show board and supporters!

Have SHOES you don’t wear that are taking up precious closet space? Pair them up and donate them to the Booster Club Fundraiser! Take the shoes to Hometown Hardware, FSB in Throckmorton, or to Higginbotham’s in Breckenridge. When 2,500 pairs of shoes have amassed, Woodson kids will earn $1,000. We are over 500 pairs on our “Shoe Meter.” Thankful for all donations!

Thankful for one new kindle of rabbits, praying the cold will stay away from them!

Marilyn Dickie tells me that “she loves me every minute.” That should be how often we are thankful. I am truly thankful for every minute, and thankful IN every minute.
