On Sunday evening, the WHS Seniors hosted a homecoming dance and almost the entire high school was in attendance! It was great! Every kid danced and laughed and danced and smiled and danced and ate and danced for FIVE hours! It nearly did the sponsors in, but there were absolutely no problems! We have great students! Each one is a winner!

Homecoming is over for the year. Whew! Made it. That makes us winners, right? Kolin Dalton and Mercy Valentic won the titles of Football Hero and Sweetheart!

Mr. and Miss WHS, Gevin Beauchamp and Savanna Sullivan, took care of their royal court at the 2022 Coronation. The Elementary Prince and Princess were Max Berend and Addie Webb! The Class of 2022 Dinner was well attended and delicious food was served! The Parade was great! The Exes Reception was well attended and beautiful in the NEW Old Gym! The Carnival was a success! Also, this week we lost David Boyd. He was such a good person. I met him long ago, when I judged horse shows. He rode the prettiest, most well behaved stud horse. BJ rode a beautiful paint, too. When his grandkids started attending Woodson, David was our number one fan and has been ever since. This homecoming was different without his presence and warm smile. He has been a part of this community for so long and will be missed. He was the best “stock show granddad” there could be. He held my Claire at every show we attended together while I took care of my other kids. He was there to support my kids, and everyone else’s, in the same way that he loved and cared for his own. I miss this man! Services are Saturday, Oct. 22, in Breckenridge. Details are at meltonkitchen.com.

Take your clean, paired, gently used, or new shoes to Angela Miles, Hometown Hardware, FSB in Throckmorton, or to Higginbotham’s in Breckenridge. This is our Booster Club Fundraiser. When 2,500 pairs of shoes have amassed, Woodson will earn $1,000. We are close to 500 pairs on our “Shoe Meter.”

Next up is the Hunter’s Welcome Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Then the 1st annual Woodson ISD Veterans Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8. If you are a veteran and can attend, please text me, at 254-522-5052, your name, branch of service, dates/years of service, city of residence, and whether or not you will be able to attend, and if you will have guests for the luncheon. We welcome all veterans!

Old towels and bleach! Thank you for donations! Claire Ellis is conducting a towel drive for the animal shelters and a wildlife refuge. Bleach for cleaning will also be needed. Email me at tacylte@gmail.com, if you need to schedule a pick up. Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far! The drive ends Oct. 31.

How blessed we are that we can participate in all of these wonderful activities and opportunities. How blessed we are to have the wonderful Woodson Community! Winners!
