Stephens Memorial, Breckenridge Medical Clinic see improvements

Wed, 10/16/2019 - 2:00 pm

Stephens Memorial Hospital and Breckenridge Medical Clinic have gone through a lot of changes over the past five years, but it’s all for the better.

Chris Curtis, Practice Administrator, has seen these changes and been influential in making the Breckenridge Medical Clinic better every year. He stated that the clinic is labeled as a Rural Health Clinic, a federal designation. Curtis stated that one of the big changes came in Oct. of 2016 when they merged two clinics into one. “Where the business office is now use to be Dr. Prater’s clinic, so we had two clinics sitting right here,” said Curtis, “This clinic [Breckenridge Medical Clinic] is a rural health clinic, which is a designation from the federal government.” The medical clinic would get a different reimbursement rate than Dr. Prater’s clinic, so combining the two was able to save close to a million dollars in one year.
