Double homicide rocks Breckenridge over weekend, suspect in custody

A Breckenridge man was charged with two counts of capital murder over the weekend, after his parents were found bludgeoned to death by a baseball bat, according to officials. The man was arrested later the same day.

Paxton Sullivan, 28, was found at Boer’s Den near Woodson, Texas where he was arrested by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Breckenridge Police Department. The Texas Rangers have been called in to assist in investigating the incident. Paxton is being held on a $2 million bond.

Rezoning of Elliott and Wheeler called off due to opposition

The project that calls for townhouses to be developed on a rezoned Elliott and Wheeler Street has been called off after almost two months of meetings and opposition.

Cancelled plans

Virgil Moore, executive director of the Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation, said developer David Stowe spoke with him on Tuesday, Dec. 11, and said he no longer wished to pursue the development project.

Stowe concurred saying the opposition was the primary motive for changing his mind.

School board discusses shooting threat from last week, receives audit report, announces students of the month

The Breckenridge ISD school board met Monday evening and addressed the shooting threat that was found in a bathroom stall last week. They also announced students of the month and received a report on an audit conducted on their finances.
