The new traf_c signals at the intersection of FM 3099 and US Highway 180, between Walmart and Tractor Supply, became operational Monday, March 31. The traf_c signals began operation with a flashing red light and should be treated as a four-way stop for the initial week.

Time clocks implemented for county employees

Stephens County Commissioners resolved to implement timeclocks for county employees at their meeting Monday, March 24. County Treasurer Kelsey Cornwall said that her and Commissioner David Fambro went through a timeclock demo after last month’s meeting in which the idea of implementing the physical machines first came up as a possibility.

Beacon Grant awarded to local first responders

Breckenridge Elks Lodge #1480 awarded its 2025 Beacon Grant to four local volunteer fire departments Saturday afternoon, March 29. The Elks awarded $1,000 to each of the fire departments for a total grant of $4,000.
