Reynolds pleads guilty, accepts three years on child neglect

One of three Breckenridge defendants involved an Oklahoma child abuse investigation has been sentenced to prison. After entering a plea of guilty, Linda Kay Reynolds, of Breckenridge, agreed to three years imprisonment on one count of child neglect by the District Court of Washington County, Oklahoma.

Kirkeby wins first state karate championship

Joshua Parker Kirkeby recently traveled to Mesquite to compete in the Amateur Organizations of Karate (AOK) 2024 State Karate Finals. Fighting in the Intermediate Division, he took second place in Point Sparring and first place in Continuous Sparring, giving him the first state championship of his career.

BHS band hitting the notes with high morale this year

Under the direction of Band Director Joe Barrow in his first year in the position, the Breckenridge ISD band program has seen a lot of success during the 2024-25 school year. That success, according to Barrow, continues into the winter season in which they have played at the Buckaroos and Lady Bucks home basketball games.

UMHB honor roll released for Fall 2024

A Breckenridge alumni was recently recognized for their college academic performance. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor announced that 577 students were named to the Fall Dean’s Honor Roll.

Substandard housing movement made by city commissioners

As they work to align with their strategic plan, the Breckenridge City Commission has been actively addressing several substandard housing units. The City Commission spoke about six buildings which they have initially determined to be dangerous buildings at their meeting Tuesday, January 7.

City addressing fire station living quarters

The Breckenridge City Commission has gone through the process of considering obtaining a feasibility study on proposing to address the city’s fire station living quarters — located at 102 West Elm — for its employees.
