Voting ended last Tuesday in the runoff election for the March primaries with a low local turnout in Stephens County. A runoff election was held for the Democratic and Republican candidates in which no single candidate earned more than 50% of the vote in the March 1 primary election.
Breckenridge High School held graduation ceremonies for the 93 students in the Class of 2022 on Friday, May 27 in the Breckenridge ISD Athletics and Fine Arts Center.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Friday a sales tax holiday for water-efficient and Energy Star rated products. The holidays were created by the Texas Legislature and will take place Saturday, May 28, through Monday, May 30.

Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls released a list of its spring honor students Tuesday, May 17, which included two students from Breckenridge. The list included 1,040 honor students for the Spring 2022 semester.

East Elementary Student Council students and sponsors Tammy McGrady, the school’s counselor, and Tiffany Wade, special education aide, recently held a hydration drive for local first responders. The drive brought in over 4,000 bottles of water and sports drinks which was donated to local departments last Monday, May 16.
