BISD students compete in academic contest at MSU

The following students competed in the UIL Academic Competition, at Midwestern State University, in the different categories. Several students earned designations as Regional Qualifiers or Alternate Qualifiers in their specific category and are noted below. If a team places first in a category, then all mem bers of that team are Regional Qualifiers. If they place first, second or third as an individual, then they are designated as Regional Qualifiers. If a student places fourth, they are considered a Regional Alternate.

Bill tightening voting restrictions in Texas passes Senate committee

A Texas Senate committee on Friday passed an elections bill that would tighten the state’s voting rules by limiting extended early voting hours, requiring proof of disability to qualify for mail-in voting and prohibiting drive-thru voting. Senate Bill 7, sponsored by Sen. Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola, is one of Gov. Gregg Abbott’s legislative priorities this session.
