Community participates in National Night Out

Public service entities from Breckenridge and Stephens County participated in National Night Out, an annual nationwide event, Tuesday, Oct. 4. The event was held at the Stephens County Law Enforcement Center.

Deadline this Friday for brush pickup

As a cooperative effort, the city of Breckenridge and Stephens County will be picking up brush with a woodchipper inside the corporate limits of Breckenridge, at no charge, throughout the week of Monday, Oct. 17. Residents must have brush that they would like chipped and hauled off at curbside by Friday, Oct. 14.

County tax office to be closed for election training

The Stephens County Tax Office will be closed from 8 a.m. to at least 1 p.m. tomorrow Thursday, Oct. 6. The closure is due to election training for election precinct judges and workers in regards to the upcoming November Election, according to Stephens County Tax Assessor- Collector, Christie Latham.

Voter registration deadline next week

The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming November General Election, which will be held Tuesday, Nov 8, is next Tuesday, Oct. 11. On the ballot will be runnings for both federal and state seats in Stephens County.

County appoints new VSO

Stephens County appointed Brandon Jeffcoat as the new Veterans Services Officer (VSO), following the retirement of Don Smith, during the County Commissioners meeting Monday, Sept. 26.

Huntington named as new chamber ED

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce announced last week via email that Yuri Huntington had been hired as their new Executive Director. The announcement was made by Rhonda Rogers- Crawford, who has been serving in the interim role since July.
