Duran, Tidwell named Athletes of the Week

For their performances last week, senior Carson Duran and freshman Kamden Tidwell have been selected as the Breckenridge American’s Athletes of the Week. Duran had a big week on the baseball diamond and Tidwell did well at the regional track meet at Abilene Christian University over the weekend.

Bucks, Lady Bucks have strong showing at regional meet

While both teams’ competitors fell short of qualifying for state, Breckenridge High School still had a strong showing at the UIL Region 1-3A Track & Field Meet last weekend in Abilene. Kamden Tidwell was the top finisher for the Lady Bucks, placing third in pole vault, missing a state appearance by 18 inches.

Bucks complete sweep of Comanche

Heading into their final series of the regular season, which began last night in Tolar, the Bucks took down the Comanche Indians for the second time last week with a 16-9 win Thursday, April 17. The scoring was started in the first inning by the Bucks as Nieko Martinez doubled to left field to score Cooper Wimberley, who started the game with a single to left.

Bucks rattled by Tolar on Senior Night

After honoring their four seniors, Carson Duran, Junior Duran, Jaxon Escalon and Nieko Martinez on Senior Night, the Bucks came out to an early lead over the Tolar Rattlers and were in good shape to take a win Monday, April 21.

BHS track teams advance to regionals in 13 events

The Bucks and Lady Bucks competed in the Area track meet Thursday, April 10 at Newton Field in Graham. With the top four of each event advancing to the Regional, the girls had four individual qualifiers and one relay team qualifier, while the boys had six individual qualifiers and two relay team qualifiers.

Lady Bucks dropped by Eastland

The Lady Bucks (714-1, 3-7) traveled to Eastland and faced the Lady Mavericks (14-8, 7-3) despite the questionable weather Friday, April 4. The start time of the game was pushed back an hour to 6 p.m.
