Bucks fall to Millsap in extra inning affair

After holding the lead for a majority of the game, the Breckenridge Buckaroos (8-9-1, 6-2) allowed the Millsap Bulldogs (7-11, 3-5) to tie the game in the final inning of regulation, before ultimately falling, 5-4, in nine innings Monday, April 7.

Lady Bucks struggle against Maidens

After narrowly falling last Tuesday to the Peaster Lady Greyhounds, 3-2, the Lady Bucks were the first to get on the scoreboard to start the game Friday, March 28 against the Comanche Maidens. In the first inning, Raegan Robinson ripped a rocket double off the right field wall to drive in Olyvia Perez with two outs.

Bucks sweep Lions

With two 11-1 wins Tuesday, March 25 and Friday, March 28, the Buckaroos (7-8-1, 5-1) swept the Dublin Lions (5-10, 0-6) last week for their fourth and fifth wins in a row. Nieko Martinez went 4-for-4 in the first game, doubling in the second and fifth innings and singling in the first and fourth innings.

BHS track competes at Stephenville

For their final tuneup before the district meet starting today, Breckenridge High School competed Thursday, March 27 in the Colonel Mobley Optimist Relays in Stephenville. The Buckaroos and Lady Buckaroos each had a handful of top six finishers, including a first-place finish for Chance Stewart in the varsity boys 1600-meter run, a first-place finish for Kamden Tidwell in the varsity girls pole vault and a first-place finish for Rihana Fuller in the JV girls discus.

Lady Bucks fall to Lady Bulldogs

In their first game of last week, Tuesday, March 18, the Lady Bucks (7-9-1, 3-2) hosted the Dublin Lady Lions (5-12, 0-5) and showed out with the bats. In the second game Friday, the Lady Bucks fell to the Millsap Lady Bulldogs, after leading for most of the game.

Bucks tame Longhorns in sweep

The Breckenridge Buckaroos had a successful week on the baseball diamond last week as they swept the Early Longhorns with wins Tuesday and Friday, led by strong pitching and hot bats. The Bucks got down quickly in the second game, with Early opening the scoring in the first inning with two runs.

Bucks win Buckaroo Relay, Lady Bucks place second

During a breezy morning and afternoon Saturday, March 15, Breckenridge runners hit the track and field facilities behind South Elementary School to participate in the Buckaroo Relays. When everything was said in done by late afternoon after the events kicked off at 9 a.m., the Buckaroos won the day with 167 points, ahead of second place Tuscola Jim Ned with 114 points.

Buckaroos split spring break games against Eastland

The Buckaroos played two games against the Eastland Mavericks over spring break, one at home and one at Eastland Baseball Complex, in their District opening games of the season. It was tough sledding for the Bucks in the first game Tuesday, March 11 at home, as the young team struggled to get things going offensively.
