The Breckenridge Lady Buckaroos softball team could not carry momentum from a positive start to the week into last weekend’s Iowa Park tournament. After defeating Stephenville on the road Tuesday, Feb. 26, 8-6, the Lady Bucks could only score four runs in four losses against Wylie, Graham, Mineral Wells and Iowa Park.
As Breckenridge Buckaroos baseball prepared for this week’s season-opening game, held Monday, Feb. 20 at Holliday, the team traveled to Graham last Wednesday to take part in one of two preseason scrimmages.
During opening week, Breckenridge Lady Buckaroos softball traveled Tuesday, Feb. 14 to Springtown, and dropped their game against the Lady Porcupines, 3-0.
South Elementary student Matthew Reed was chosen as January’s student of the month. Reed’s teachers and Principal Josh Holt spoke about how bright of a light he is within the school.
Last week, the Breckenridge Buckaroo Athletics launched an online fundraiser through Adrenaline Fundraising to help fund upgrades to equipment and facilities. The specific use of funds are earmarked for Breckenridge Junior High School girl’s basketball uniforms, football safety equipment, and possibly LT Cook and junior high gym upgrades, according to Athletic Director Casey Pearce.
This week’s Buckaroo Spotlight Athlete of the Week is Chance Stewart. Stewart is a Freshman at Breckenridge High School and rapidly improving himself as a student and athlete.
The Breckenridge Elks Lodge held their annual basketball hoop shoot free throw competition Sunday, Jan. 8 at LT Cook Gym.
After coming off a 24-point loss to Perrin in the Graham Tournament the weekend before, you couldn’t blame Breckenridge for wanting a little dose of revenge on the Pirate ship Thursday, Dec. 15.
The Breckenridge Buckaroos looked to improve on five wins to open the basketball season last week when they traveled to Graham to participate in the inaugural Red, White and Blue Tournament at Graham High School.
